The City of Azusa celebrated their 70th Golden Days anniversary this past weekend but a thunderstorm with lightning caused us to end early on Friday and then torrential rains the likes of which we have not seen here in years canceled the parade on Saturday morning. As a result of the rain and cold, the turnout to Golden Days at Memorial Park was slim as most people stayed home to keep warm and dry. We finished on Sunday afternoon when the Mariachi bands played and the sun came out and more people attended. Many in the city were very disappointed about the rain and the need to cancel the parade since this had never happened in the 70 years of Golden Day celebrations. However, the students were able to pass out hundreds of New Testaments in English and Spanish despite the weather and many people mentioned they were touched and encouraged by the kindness of CBA’s students. And we know this was the outpouring of Christ’s extravagant love through our students to the community.
